Following the success of last year’s pilot, 2011 graduates will once again be donning regalia made from 100 percent recycled material. The “eco-gowns” are made with Renew Fabric, which comes from post consumer plastic bottles. In addition, the College will collect gowns following the ceremony for those students who do not wish to keep them. The gowns will be cleaned and utilized at other college events, such as induction ceremonies for Phi Theta Kappa. The incorporation of green practices into the Commencement exercises is consistent with the College’s strategic focus on sustainability.
