West Campus Lighting Gets Greener

The West Campus Facilities team has started installing daylight sensors for the stair tower lighting in North and South halls. The sensors will change the operation of the lighting fixtures from being constantly “on” to being dependent on ambient lighting conditions, which means the lights will only operate when the stair towers are dark. This change will impact approximately 42 lighting fixtures.

In addition, the lighting in North Hall has been completely converted to CFLs, which translates into a significant reduction in lighting wattage and maintenance costs. The remaining five percent of incandescent bulbs and metal filament fixtures in South Hall will be phased out as they require service.
